Overview

The Jockey Club “Giftedness Into Flourishing Talents” Project, established in November 2016, introduced the Gifted Education Lecture Series to educators, gifted students and their parents.

The Gifted Education Lecture Series (18-25 February 2017) on “Talent Development: Nurturing Creativity and Excellence” was the first major activities of the Project. A group of world-renowned scholars and pioneers in gifted education, including Professor Susan G. ASSOULINE , Professor Ching-chih KUO, Professor Sally M. REIS, Professor Joseph S. RENZULLI, and Professor Joyce VANTASSEL-BASKA, visited Hong Kong to conduct a series of distinguished academic lectures during the said period.

The highlights of the Gifted Education Lecture Series were on 23 February 2017 with a launching ceremony officiated by Mr. Leong CHEUNG (Executive Director, Charities and Community, The Hong Kong Jockey Club), Mr. Eddie H. K. NG (SBS, JP, Secretary for Education, Education Bureau, The Government of HKSAR), Professor Joseph J. Y. SUNG (SBS, JP, Vice-Chancellor and President, CUHK), and other Guests of Honour followed by keynote speeches and distinguished lectures delivered by overseas scholars. This event was intended to bring together past experiences, current practices and updated research studies in the U.S. and Taiwan to advance our knowledge in gifted education and provide insights for us to bring talent development and gifted education in Hong Kong to a higher level of theoretical development and professional practice.
